Notes:  This US study analyses the influence of enduring or witnessing physical or psychological family violence on the incidence of aggressiveness and depression in young at-risk children. Altogether, 682 children and their mothers who were participating in the LONGSCAN (Longitudinal Studies of Child Abuse and Neglect) consortium of studies reported behavioural outcomes, exposure to family violence and socio-demographic factors. Psychological and physical abuse predicted aggressive behaviour. Psychological victimisation or witnessing violence predicted anxiety and depression.
