This report presents detailed findings from a US longitudinal study of 2344 youth that examined whether exposure to intimate partner violence (IPV) was related to youth violence generally, drug use and internalising symptoms. The researchers also considered the relationship of neighbourhood characteristics. Overall, the findings indicated that exposure to IPV increased the likelihood of negative consequences including drug use and internalised symptoms and this relationship was affected by neighbourhood characteristics, including concentrated disadvantage.
