Notes: | The authors describe a model of service for women presenting to a mental health service who experience both domestic violence and mental health issues. A group work programme based on feminist principles of safety and empowerment has been developed by the authors. The programme is located within the context of NSW Health policy on domestic violence, which acknowledges the need to include the impact of domestic violence as a focus of intervention. It is described as a strength-based model which does not pathologise women while working within within a larger context of the biomedical model. |
