Notes:  This article reports the findings from a study of 1315 US adolescents examining the long-term effects of exposure to intimate partner violence (IPV) on subsequent adolescent violence and drug use considering gender as an influencing factor. The findings indicated that exposure to IPV did not significantly predict later dating violence among males or females. However, exposure to IPV did mildly increase the likelihood that females would use drugs and had no effect on drug use for males.
