| Notes: | This Scottish study sought to compare health professionals' beliefs about domestic violence with those of abused women. The study used the Common Sense Model of Self-Regulation of Health and Illness as a framework for understanding domestic violence. This model considers five components of disease: identity, cause, timeline, curability/controllability and consequences. According to the authors, this is the first time the model has been applied to a social phenomenon such as domestic violence. |
