Notes:  This article reports the findings from a study which interviewed service providers in Brisbane who identified as providing services for male victims of same-sex intimate partner violence (IPV). The findings from the study address the forms and types of male same-sex IPV, the context of the violence, barriers to leaving and seeking services, and the availability and effectiveness of support services. The authors also sought to identify and examine aspects of IPV that are unique to male same-sex victims of IPV, including heteronormativism, homophobia and hegemonic masculinity.
