Notes:  This article reports on findings from a US study which interviewed 280 heterosexual couples living together about intimate partner violence and alcohol consumption and dependence. The study examined whether alcohol use and dependence influenced subsequent perpetration of violence by either men or women, or both partners, finding differences between the genders.
