Notes:  This article discusses how immigrant status influences domestic violence experienced by women in multicultural western societies. It outlines the reasons why immigrant women are susceptible to higher incidents of domestic violence and argues that this is a result of women staying with their batterers, unreported violence to authorities and lack of interaction with social services. It concludes its discussion with an analysis of the implication that these issues have for criminal justice policy and research.
