Notes:  Provides an overview of research into the overlap between child maltreatment and domestic violence, the impact of domestic violence on children’s physical and emotional wellbeing and the role of domestic violence in causing child neglect. The need for more coordinated responses is then highlighted. Some examples of recent attempts across the US to address the overlap between child maltreatment and intimate partner abuse are presented under the categories of institutional change, training/curricula for child welfare, protocols, co-location of staff, multidisciplinary collaboration, support groups and other responses.
