Notes: | Suggests a definition for Informal Social Support (ISS) Interventions, providing examples of ISS Interventions that have attempted to mobilise existing support mechanisms, such as family and friends, or focus volunteer efforts on the prevention of spousal violence. Research into the outcomes and relative success of ISS Interventions is discussed and it is argued that more sophisticated evaluation and implementation strategies must be applied if the full potential of social support networks is to be realised in a community or clinical context. Specific challenges for evaluating ISS Interventions are also identified and some suggestions for addressing them provided. |
