Notes:  This article briefly outlines the objectives and results of the Western Australia Inquiry into Response by Government Agencies to Complaints of Family Violence and Child Abuse in Aboriginal Communities, known as the ‘Gordon Inquiry’. The report explored the capacity and barriers of State Government agencies, the possibility of mandatory reporting of sexually transmitted diseases, and the limitations of DNA testing in the Aboriginal community. It allowed the consultation and participation of Aboriginal communities and the examination of government and non-government information. The recommendations, which focus on the community involvement and responsibility, systematic and multi-focused interventions, and a change in ideology, represent an important opportunity to improve the quality of life of Aboriginal children.
