Notes:	Provides an overview of the growth in criminal justice responses to domestic violence and the increasing role of criminal justice agencies in the battered women’s movement within a US perspective, highlighting some of the problems this has created for victims and professionals. Two responses to this dilemma – Insult to Injury:(2003) by Linda G. Mills and a report from the Safety and Justice for All Workshop:convened by the Ms Foundation in 2002 are then reviewed. Some of the problems with each of these approaches are identified and it is suggested that, in determining the appropriate combination of criminal justice, community- and counselling-based initiatives, we need to recognise the diversity of women’s voices and differentiate our responses accordingly.
