Questions whether or not professionals working in the field of domestic violence actually agree on what constitutes an ‘integrated’ , ‘co-ordinated’ or ‘collaborative’ service response. Argues the starting point for such an approach must be some degree of consensus regarding the nature and effects of domestic violence and how such issues should be dealt with. Suggests that protocols should be developed by multidisciplinary teams whose work is capable of being evaluated and monitored. Acknowledges that a truly integrated response to domestic violence can only be achieved when all relevant agencies have a common mission and support is provided by individuals and groups at all levels of power.
