Notes:  Defines and discusses the scope and nature of domestic violence and violence against women with disabilities before highlighting specific ways in which gender and disability can intersect to create multiple barriers and forms of oppression. The need for legal and social support service response to be tailored accordingly is examined and existing approaches criticised. Tactics used by perpetrators of abuse against women with disabilities in particular are described and the experiences of women with disabilities at various stages of the criminal justice system are explored. The paper concludes with a series of recommendations for future reform. Data from the US and Canada is quoted.
