Notes:	General Overview: This Western Australian paper considers the latest international research on the consequences of intimate partner violence to pregnant women and their unborn children or foetuses. Methods: The paper is based on a literature review, theoretical analysis and examination of the latest international research and data. Discussion: Prevalence rates, physical and reproductive health consequences, and the interrelationship between unwanted pregnancies and repeat abortions are discussed. Results: Abused pregnant women suffer grave physical, reproductive and psychological health impacts. Abuse may become lethal for a significant number of pregnant women and their unborn children. Repeat abortion-seeking conduct is closely associated with unwanted pregnancies as a result of intimate partner violence. Conclusions: The paper suggests that intimate partner violence during pregnancy needs to be seen as an important women’s and public health issue and recommends further research in this priority area. This Western Australian paper reviews and analyses the latest international research on the consequences of intimate partner violence to pregnant women and their unborn children.
