Notes: | Research links coroner, medical examiner, vital statistics and administrative judicial data. Only a small percentage of firearm homicides are followed by firearm suicide (3.2%) but when women were killed by their intimate partner, the perpetrator shot himself in two thirds of cases. A centralised system, including investigation reports from police, and forensic laboratories, as well as full coroner and medical reports, allows critical analysis of data to enable surveillance and prevention. |
