Notes:  "April 2014"
The Maori, Indigenous people of Aotearoa New Zealand, are over-represented in family violence statistics in their country, analogous to the situation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in Australia. With a comparable history of colonisation and with similar contemporary factors at play, the issue of violence intervention and prevention within the two Indigenous populations throws up parallel challenges.
