Notes:	Special Issue Title: "Intimate betrayal: Domestic violence in lesbian relationships" Women in lesbian and heterosexual relationships endure almost identical patterns of physical, sexual and emotional intimate partner violence. However, factors such as outing and homophobia are additional forms of abuse to control lesbians. Similarly, there is an absence of appropriate services and trained practitioners to address same-sex partner abuse. This article reports on a study based on the hypothesis that lesbians are more familiar with the dynamics of heterosexual domestic violence rather than the dynamics of intra-lesbian domestic violence. The incidence and prevalence of lesbian battering; traditional and postmodernist feminist conceptualisations of power and battering; the role of the gay and lesbian community in concealing the violence; and the lack of adequate services, are discussed.
