Notes:	Article explores the response of institutions and processes of law and justice to women’s experience of domestic violence and divorce in colonial and contemporary Australia. The authors argue that women victims of domestic violence, stretching from colonial to contemporary times, feel isolated and unsupported within the community, and face the challenge of needing to confront abusive partners through adversarial legal processes.
