Notes:  Special Issue Title: "Intimate betrayal: Domestic violence in lesbian relationships"
It is increasingly understood that in order to facilitate a shift from violent to non-violent relationships it is necessary to understand the perpetrator. Numerous batterer profiles have been devised for men who abuse women but there appears to be no research which examines gay or lesbian partners who abuse. This study utilises the Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation - Behaviour (FIRO-B) scale to measure reported and wanted inclusion, control and affection in a small sample of same-sex couples. A group of fifteen lesbians who had abused their partners and voluntarily joined a therapy programme provided the data. The clinical, interpersonal, theoretical and research implications are discussed.
