Notes:	In this US study of media coverage of domestic violence, the authors examine online comments posted by the public in response to 86 news items reporting incidents of elder abuse. The authors analyse posted comments in respect of sympathy extended to family and friends; perceptions of victims and perpetrators; perceptions of the incident; and excuses and blame for the incident. While acknowledging the limitations to their study, the authors suggest that the results indicate a need for increased education of the public in the area of intimate partner violence in later life.
