Notes:  Outlines the methodology and results of a study conducted in Victoria, Australia aimed at investigating whether the attitudes, levels of aggression and levels of interpersonal dependency of men who perpetrate intimate violence differ from those of non-abusive men. A review of relevant studies and literature is presented and the discussion suggests that while aggression and interpersonal dependency levels of men are a significant predictor of violent behaviour, men’s attitudes towards violence are not. Both abusive and non-abusive partners tended to have low levels of tolerance for intimate violence. Concludes by advocating for further research into the personal and socio-cultural characteristics of male-to-female intimate violence.
