Notes:  Marlene Speechley speaks about her work as the Coordinator of the Nawamba House Women’s Shelter in Mt Isa, Queensland for nearly thirty years, working with the refuge movement and local Indigenous communities. As well as providing a safe refuge for victims of domestic violence, the service also runs sporting, children’s, mother’s and self-esteem programs. The service prides itself on having good management, accountability and transparency, and working with indigenous and non-indigenous women.
