Notes: | General Overview: :Over the past four decades, the key message of the domestic violence movement has been that domestic violence is common and affects women across ethnic and class lines. While this straightforward message continues to resonate strongly within the domestic violence movement itself and with the wider community, this article argues that it lacks nuance. The authors advocate re-framing the message in a way which more accurately accounts for the evidence around the impact of social divisions on women’s experiences of domestic violence, and, more specifically, the intersections of race, gender, class and disability. |
