Notes:  This brief US-based article examines the impacts during pregnancy and postpartum of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) resulting from intimate partner violence, childhood maltreatment and childhood sexual abuse. Drawing on a longitudinal study of 160 women in the US, the authors discuss common themes among women’s experiences and interventions such as pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, complimentary and alternative approaches, parent-infant/child relationship therapy and peer support groups.
