Notes:	Overview: This paper reports on an Australian project investigating how policies and practices affect the experiences of single mothers who are seeking or receiving child support from violent ex-partners. The research focused on the social organisation and everyday life of the participants, using ethnographic traditions and qualitative data collected from in depth interviews. * Control, avoidance and violent tactics used by ex-partner and other issues relating to ex-partner The report found that complex child support and welfare provisions, problems with bureaucracy, attitudes of institutional staff and inadequate means of preventing avoidance of financial responsibilities by ex-partners are among many barriers to receipt of child support, resulting in increased poverty of single mothers with violent ex-partners.
