Notes:  General Overview: This Australian article describes the Northern Crisis Advocacy Service (NCARS) in Melbourne, a collaboration between six agencies which sought to offer women the opportunity to explore the full range of available options for safe accommodation, without having to leave their home or community. Among the services provided in the pilot were:

* a 24/7 face to face crisis counselling, information support and advocacy service to women and children
Beginning in 2008, the pilot service was an enhanced service, offered within existing funding allocations.
