Notes: | Provides a brief overview of the policies and practices of the Northern Violence Intervention Program, a collaborative project between the Northern Metropolitan Community Health Service, Elizabeth Magistrates Court, Department of Correctional Services, Department of Human Services and the South Australian Police. The programme is founded on four principles: the safety of women and children is paramount at all times; men who use violence are viewed as responsible for the violence; interventions will be respectful; and the programme is accountable to the experience of those who have had violence used against them. It challenges men’s use of violence against partners, ex partners and children. Some of the programme’s community education activities are also described. |
