Reports the key aspects and implementation of PARKAS, Parent’s Accepting Responsibility- Kids Are Safe, a project designed by the Melbourne Royal Children’s Hospital Mental Health Service in collaboration with Djerriwarrh Health Services. The project began at the request of adult victims and perpetrators of family violence interested in restoring the relationships with their children. Accordingly, PARKAS focuses on generating or rebuilding a healthy emotional development of children who experienced family violence. Two group-work intervention models, which include a children’s and mothers’/carers’ group and a children’s and fathers’ group, are described. The training packages and interagency coordination derived from the project are also discussed.
