Notes: | Outlines some of the key recommendations of the Western Australian Government’s report Putting The Picture Together. The inquiry on which the report is based was undertaken in response to the death of Susan Taylor, an Aboriginal girl who reported being physically abused and sexually assaulted by her uncle. The issues discussed in this paper are the establishment of an implementation body, the role of the departments of Health and Education, police and court responses, and interagency coordination. The creation of specialised centres and the figure of Children’s Commissioner, deficiencies in service delivery and programmes, legislative changes and mandatory reporting were also addressed. |
