Notes:  Outlines the methodology and results of a US study directed at both identifying the stages and processes of change which can occur in the behaviour of abusive men and assessing the utility of the Transtheoretical Model of behaviour change for explaining these patterns. Participants were drawn from a cross-sectional sample of men attending batterers’ prevention and intervention programmes and it is suggested that a better understanding of the processes of behaviour change and men’s readiness to change might assist practitioners in developing more targeted treatment responses for perpetrators of domestic violence.
