Notes:  Discusses key themes emerging from a review of policies and procedures for addressing partner violence in child custody disputes across the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Presents an overview of research into the impact of partner violence on children and considers the ways in which debate over partner violence and child custody decisions is taking shape across regions. Specific issues arising in each of the countries reviewed are outlined and it is suggested that, while jurisdictions have taken divergent pathways in their approach to custody disputes, each has reached the same ‘cross roads’ and the role of partner violence has become a central point of contention in family law reform. Argues legislative change is only one of a range of reforms needed to address these issues.
