Notes:  The impact of interparental violence on children has been reported in a number of theories and studies. However, several inconsistencies and gaps can be found among them. This research explores the variability in adjustment detected within children residing in shelters for battered women in Texas, USA. The factors considered to analyse adjustment were internalising problems (anxiety and depression), externalising problems (aggression and disruptive behaviour) and self-esteem. Some variables were identified to determine the type of adjustment problem, including frequency of domestic violence, frequency of parent-child aggression and children’s perceptions of interparental conflict.
