Notes:	Presents the methodology and findings of an evaluation project from Canada which utilised both quantitative and qualitative methods to assess the effectiveness of two follow-up programmes for abused women. A background to the development of such programmes is provided as is research supporting their implementation, their fundamental goals and characteristics. Some of the implications for social work practice are discussed, both in light of the research findings and in relation to future interventions and research. It is suggested that although follow-up services form only part of a network of services necessary to protect women from abusive partners, they are a valuable source of support to the majority of survivors.
