Notes:  This journal article reports on findings of a US study that investigated the preferred communication methods of abused women. Using community based participatory research concepts, interviews were conducted and the Preferred Communication Questionnaire was also administered. The research found that the highest preferred method of communication for disclosure is face-to-face and phone contact, while a number of people also said they would use newer forms of communication such as text messages, email or Facebook. Despite these results, the report concludes that the utmost care must be taken to keep abused women safe while using any type of communication.
