Notes:  This article is a response to Plichta and argues that prevention against intimate partner violence (IPV) is essential and strategies for prevention exist but need to be prioritised. Using a health context analogy and also applying prevention approaches for rape, it describes and summarises the three levels of prevention (tertiary, secondary and primary prevention) for IPV. It includes listings of a range of primary and secondary prevention strategies that are being implemented in the United States and elsewhere. It also lists examples of IPV prevention intervention activities by profession or role.
