Notes: | This excellent book is a valuable resource for lawyers, mental health professionals, researchers, and policymakers who are interested in domestic violence. The goal of the book is to further our understanding of how to respond to both parents and children in domestic violence situations. The book addresses three themes: first, finding effective ways to end domestic violence; second, developing interventions that encompass children and both their parents—the adult victim and perpetrator; and third, identifying "promising practices" that would achieve these goals. The book contains 14 chapters that are authored by American and Canadian practitioners and researchers in mental health, law, education, and human services. The editors all have a connection with the Centre for Children and Families in the Justice System of the London Family Court Clinic in Ontario, Canada. For information on the Centre see The Centre for Children and Families in the Justice System (formerly the London Family Court Clinic) and for a very extensive bibliography on children exposed to domestic violence prepared by the Centre see Children Exposed to Family Violence . |
