Notes:  Outlines the methodology and results of a study conducted in New South Wales aimed at ascertaining, through face-to-face interviews, the perceived health status, risks and needs of people living in public housing. For example, risks of injury due to domestic violence was found to be approximately six times greater in this group compared to the rest of the community. Links findings suggesting that public housing tenants are amongst the most severely health-compromised groups in Australia to broader socio-economic differentials in health status and advocates for the development of multi-disciplinary, community orientated approaches to minimising health risks and providing health care to disadvantaged groups.
