Notes:  Update on the Domestic Violence Initiative (DVI) in Queensland which aims to provide universal routine screening for domestic violence to women presenting to public antenatal and emergency clinics. Describes the questionnaire developed and piloted in Stage 1 and details the progress of Stage 2 in which the screening tool has been introduced to wide areas of the state, including Nambour Hospital on the Sunshine Coast, the Bayside Health District in Brisbane, in Longreach and the Central West District, as well as Mackay Base Hospital. Discusses the challenges of developing a model for women in rural and remote communities and for Indigenous women, and reports on three important awards presented to the Initiative in 2000.
