Notes:  Comments on the level of racism experienced in New South Wales according to the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board (ADB). The ADB’s latest annual report reveals that formal complaints about racial vilification have significantly increased, and that Arabic and Islamic communities are particularly targeted. More than forty phone calls are received per day and more than thirty formal complaints are submitted every week. The president of the ADB points out some of the flaws in the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act including the omission of religion as a cause of discrimination (only ethno-religion is contemplated) and the inability of the Board to initiate a complaint when victims are afraid.
