Notes:	Provides an analysis of the current applicability of the ‘cycle of violence’ metaphor, and whether it is as useful as it once was. Discusses its historical use and the development of new constructs to inform practice with women who are dealing with domestic violence. Examines the role of the worker, other dominant metaphors (for example ‘system’ and ‘spiral’) and the way in which workers can use collaborative practice to view women as ‘experts’ of their own situations and learn from them.
