Notes: | This brief report describes a prospective [US] study of intimate partner violence-related post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in a sample of 147 residents of battered women’s shelters. Preliminary results of the study indicate chronic PTSD symptoms in most women sampled. The authors conclude that PTSD is one of the most common public health issues arising from intimate partner violence. The article outlines the methodology and findings of the survey. |
