Notes:	This article provided a background to the Family Law Forum which was a joint initiative of the New South Wales Violence Against Women Strategy, Marrickville Legal Centre, the Jannawi Family Centre, the Sydney Women’s Counselling Centre, the Muslim Women’s Association and the Canterbury Domestic Violence Liaison Committee. Jane Mulroney, then Director of the Australian Domestic & Family Violence Clearinghouse, chaired the forum. The aim of the forum was to inform service providers about programs within the family law context which respond to victims of domestic violence and to highlight the implications of proposed changes to the Family Law Act for women and children experiencing domestic violence. Provided is an overview of the presentations on the following topics: Listening to Women’s Voices – Conversations with Women about Domestic Violence and Family Law; recent changes and developments in the Family Court; family relationship centres; family violence and mediation; proposed family law changes; and supporting the participation of survivors of domestic violence in family mediation. The forum’s organising committee met in late March to develop a planning strategy to monitor the implementation of the amendments to the Family Law Act (Cth) 1975.
