Title: Researching the Family Law Reform Act: a case of selective attention?
Other Titles: Family matters
Authors: Moloney, Lawrie
Keywords: Family law
Year: 2001
Publisher: Australian Institute of Family Studies
Citation: (59), Winter 2001
Notes:  See also "The first three years of the Family Law Reform Act 1995" and "Researching family law reform: the authors respond" both by Helen Rhoades et al. on our Research & Resources database.
In November 2000, a report, researched and compiled by joint authors Helen Rhoades, Reg Graycar and Margaret Harrison, was published on the first three years of the Family Law Reform Act 1995, in order to evaluate its effectiveness and future implications. This article reviews and critiques that report. The review suggests the report over-emphasises the role of domestic violence in family law and child contact matters and that the resulting picture it conveys is biased due to methodological flaws.
