Notes:	Explores some of the issues regarding the transferability of restorative justice models of intervention from the diversion of young offenders to areas like domestic violence and sexual assault and examines the relationship between the criminal justice system and restorative justice programmes. Inequities inherent within the mainstream legal system are highlighted and the capacity of restorative justice models to enhance victim empowerment is discussed. The incorporation of due process into restorative justice models and the compatibility of retributive and restorative modes of punishment is debated and it is suggested that if restorative justice is to be effective justice rather than merely a diversionary mechanism, it must widen its scope to incorporate aspects of retributive and rehabilitative models inherent within conventional legal systems.
