Notes: | This article reports the findings from a US study which examined risk factors for perpetration of intimate partner violence among 10,187 young adults, aged 18-27. The study also examined differences by gender as well as whether the youth reported being both a victim and perpetrator or only a victim or perpetrator. Risk factors that were considered included childhood abuse, youth violence, suicide attempts, alcohol use and self-esteem. Results indicate that risk factors varied by gender and have implications for targeting prevention programs effectively. |
