Notes:	Presents the methodology and findings of a US study aimed at discovering victims’ feelings towards conducting domestic violence screening in the presence of their children. Highlighting research that suggests time and resource constraints in the health care setting often make it difficult for screening to be conducted in private, the authors explore the possibility of using general questions in the presence of children to screen for intimate partner violence as an alternative to no screening at all. Whilst the results suggest most mothers preferred the idea of private screening, many indicated they would not object to screening in the presence of their children provided an appropriate approach was taken. A series of recommendations in relation to the screening of mothers in front of their children and sample interview questions are provided.
