Reviews some the key challenges facing mothers who experience and/or escape intimate partner abuse and the ways in which the legal, criminal justice and social service system have responded to these issues, and presents a series of recommendations aimed at improving the safety of women and children. Recommendations include the development of programmes enabling victims to remain in their homes, enhancement of resources and training for child protection services and reforms in the evidentiary and legal process to assist child victims of sexual assault.
