Title: | Support groups for people affected by family violence : a key element of a coordinated response |
Authors: | Southwell, Jenni |
Keywords: | Policy;Interagency work;Training;Welfare;Counselling |
Year: | 2004 |
Publisher: | Domestic Violence & Incest Resource Centre |
Notes: | Presents some of the key justifications for the development of support, prevention and recovery services for people affected by family violence as part of a coordinated community response to domestic and family violence, and challenges the marginal status of such programmes within current policy and practice initiatives in Victoria. The role that support groups play in helping victims of family violence and research supporting their efficacy are reviewed before an analysis of the current funding structure surrounding their delivery is undertaken. A series of recommendations for the development of improved training, policy and practice standards are made and specific issues for future research in this area are considered. |
