Notes:  Provides a background to and describes the purpose and role of the National Abuse Free Contact Campaign, an interagency initiative aimed at advocating on behalf of women and children in the Family Court system, who have experienced domestic violence or abuse. Recent research supporting the initiative and some of the limitations of the Magellan project implemented by the Family Court are discussed, and a series of recommendations for policy and legal reform are made. Concerns about the Parliamentary inquiry into joint custody arrangements, particularly in relation to the presumption in favour of equal contact, are also raised.
